A picturesque town directly west of Golden, Colorado along with other foothill communities such as Lookout Mountain, Riva Chase, Genesee, Mount Vernon and Hiwan. It is located 8 miles south of I-70 at 7500 feet above sea level. Thomas Bergen started the little community in 1859. More homesteaders followed and eventually the town was named by Dwight P. Wilmont. The community provided lumber to the growing city of Denver and continued to grow. Sporting a population of nearly 9,500 this little homesteading area has definitely grown.
Evergreen is high end living at its finest with fantastic vistas, pine-covered hills and rock out-croppings. It is surrounded by a wonderful array of parks and recreation areas, including the Echo Mountain Park which provides skiing and snowboarding close to home. Hiwan Country Club, a public golf course, restaurants, shops, canoeing and ice-skating. This is truly a scenic alpine village just minutes from downtown Denver.
The properties vary widely from golf course, horse and view properties to mountain subdivision condos and townhomes. The hamlets are: Bergen Park, Conifer & Soda Creek. The top neighborhoods include The Island Hiwan, The Ridge Hiwan, Timbers Estates and Evergreen Meadows.
